Honoring Mothers & Mental Health – Why Support Matters After Birth

May is a time to celebrate motherhood—and a time to check in on moms, too.

At Mothers Helping Hands Atlanta, we believe every mother deserves to be celebrated—not just on Mother’s Day, but every day. This month, we also recognize Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month, which shines a light on something we see often: how overwhelming the postpartum period can truly be.

New moms experience so many emotions—joy, exhaustion, fear, love, and sometimes even sadness. That’s normal. However, too often, people expect moms to handle everything on their own and feel guilty if they ask for help. We want to change that.

Our trained newborn care specialists and postpartum doulas provide:

  • Emotional reassurance and practical help
  • Sleep support for tired moms and babies
  • Guidance with feeding, diapering, and soothing
  • Gentle encouragement to help moms build confidence

If you or someone you know is preparing for or recovering from childbirth, let them know they are not alone and support is available. Maternal care and mental health are closely linked.
